Self-control means temperance, which means \u201cpower over oneself\u201d or \u201cself-mastery over our emotions and passions.\u201d Self-control governs our rationality and conduct.<\/p>\n
Perhaps to describe self-control adequately, and help to show what things cost to a lack of self-control? Sin, iniquity, envy, jealousy, lust, greed, gluttony, alcohol and drug abuse, conceit, sexual immorality, anger, and contentiousness. <\/p>\n
In essence, self-control means self-restraint, self-discipline, and obedience to God\u2019s will, word, and desire; as well as an overwhelming concern for others. Thusly, we exercise self-control for others, in addition to doing so for our own best interests.<\/p>\n
